Initially I was always keen to work with natural products. Working with clay both in hand building and wheel; and later through expression with flowers as florist; so it seemed very natural to fall in love with eco dyeing; rusting and encaustics.

Encaustics Art – My recent journey with encaustic art has been an exciting one for me. I love when the flame hits the wax. Learning to control the unpredictability and flow as the torch moves across the layers of wax, and the bold spectrum of colours that evolve with speed & heat.

Other Medium Art of Eco Dye – I have turned to nature’s palette to showcase the warm colours hidden within. By exploring specific plants (i.e. eucalyptus) and metals (i.e. rusty tools) as mordents with sequential steps to extract colours. Each releases its own secret (working in silk, wool, felting and paper). Most of my work is done on our small cattle property in the Brisbane Valley, Qld.

I love the serendipity of the outcome, connecting me with the environment and beauty of nature.

Developing interests in mixed medium, acrylic and watercolour.

My journey in art commenced with eco print dyeing in 2013 when my last child went away to study. I’m loving the possibilities of expression through art.
