Cheese, wine, art and storms
The hot weather didn’t keep people away from attending our quarterly exhibition opening, held at the Kilcoy Courthouse Art Gallery from 2pm Sunday 13 November.
Joining local guests, people travelled from the Lockyer Valley, Brisbane and Sunshine Coast to attend the official opening of the last exhibition for 2016 at the Gallery. Around 50 people enjoyed the afternoon, even though the air conditioner was pushed to the max and ‘Barman Bill’ was kept busy serving cool drinks!
Our President Julie Henley welcomed everyone, announced the exhibiting artists for the quarter and gave an update on the deck project and future art activities. Artist of the Month, Susan McConnel of Cressbrook then gave an overview of her artwork which includes a range of unique and quirky Australian bush scenes and characters.
Curator, Trish Poole, also presented KASI’s first ‘People’s Choice’ award to Colin Van Kruining, for his painting ‘Springsure, QLD’, which was voted as the most popular artwork by visitors to the Gallery during the previous exhibition. Congratulations Colin!
After chatting with other guests over a glass of wine and viewing the new exhibition’s artworks, the afternoon finished off nicely with a couple of art sales and much needed rain! Thank you to everyone who came along and joined in!
The artworks in this exhibition will be on display until February 2017. KASI also has the ‘Xmas Smalls’ table out now where you can purchase an original piece (all priced under $60) for that special person.
So come down to the Kilcoy Courthouse Art Gallery in Yowie Park and have a look! The Gallery is open 9am to 1pm Thursday through to Monday.
Don’t forget ‘Photos with Santa’ is on at the Gallery Saturday 26 November from 9am. Bookings to have your family or pet portrait taken with Santa can be made by phoning Julie on 0414 595 262. Click here for further details!
