Wendy Houston

A number of years ago I found myself forced into retirement due to illness.
Prior to this I had always been creating something in my leisure time which varied considerably. My hobbies included restoring many pieces of antique furniture, dabbling in leadlighting ,working with mosaics and decorating many unique celebration cakes to name a few. When a friend gifted me a sewing kit to complete during my recovery I thought it impossible to do with my physical limitations.
I underestimated my abilities.
It led me on a wonderful path where I discovered a real passion for working with fabrics.
Since becoming a member of the Kilcoy Courthouse Art Gallery my sewing skills have evolved into textile art. My first entry into an art exhibition I received a Highly Commended Award. I am now encouraged to see what I can achieve in the future creating and living in the Kilcoy Somerset region.
