Caroline Dunning

Caroline’s family has been farming cattle in the Kilcoy area for four generations.

She mainly creates jewellery, and especially loves making chainmaille jewelery, often with scales. Scales have been used as armour since the 14th century BC, with chainmaille having been used since the 3rd century BC. These types of armour were worn all across the Middle East (including Egypt), Asia and Europe until guns started being used in battle. Chainmaille is still used extensively in practical applications where cut protection is required, for example butcher’s gloves, knife-proof vests and shark-proof wetsuits. It is also often used in fantasy TV shows and movies, as well as in jewellery.
