February Happenings
The first 2017 Kilcoy Art Society Inc (KASI) quarterly art exhibition officially opened on the night of February 10 at the Kilcoy Courthouse Art Gallery, Yowie Park. Although there were a few other events on around the area, a fantastic amount of people came along dressed in red to show their love of local art and to celebrate KASI’s new exhibition which included artwork from brand new members and rejoining members for 2017.
President, Julie Henley officially opened the exhibition welcoming new faces and returning friends. February Artist of the Month (AOM), Di Taylor, gave a talk about her wonderful watercolour paintings currently on display on the KASI feature wall including what inspired her to create the artwork.
Councillor Otis Ogg had the difficult task of selecting the best ‘red’ dressed female and male which were won by Robyn Vautin and Jim Fitzpatrick respectively.
The KASI fruit and vegetable raffle was won by Dr Tom and Julie Doolan. Congratulations to you all!
The ‘People’s Choice’ award for the most popular artwork in the previous quarterly exhibition was won by artist Colin Van Kruining. Well done Colin!
Thank you to the KASI Exhibition Team who did another fabulous job coordinating artworks and organising the exhibition. Also a big thank you to those who helped organise the opening night, including barman Ian Badman, door person Jenny Roberts and everyone who brought food along to share.
Don’t forget – the KASI AGM will be held 2pm, Thursday 23 February at the Kilcoy Courthouse Art Gallery, Yowie Park. If you would like any information about joining KASI’s Executive Committee or becoming a member, please phone Julie Henley on 0414 595 262.
