AOM January: Leonie Shirley
Artist of the Month for January is Leonie Shirley. Leonie was born in Victoria and started sketching in her teens. She didn’t really find time to return to art until her mid thirties whilst living in Asia. Before returning to Australia she spent one year studying Chinese watercolours which she thoroughly enjoyed.
Once in her mid fifties, Leonie decided to attend various acrylic and oil workshops which has broadened her viewpoint and she now hopes to fine tune her skills in the future with fine oils.
For January Artist of the Month, Leonie has decided to do something different and exhibit a range of recent shots taken around our beautiful Kilcoy district, and put them on good quality canvas to reflect a high standard of work.
You can view Leonie’s work at the gallery until the end of January. Below are two examples of the works on display.
