KASI artists do well at 2018 Kilcoy Show

The 2018 Kilcoy Show was held 6 and 7 April, and the Art Section, stewarded by local artists Noela Lowien (Chief Steward) and Kay Walker (Assistant Steward), received a wonderful range of artworks from around the district for exhibition and judging.

Several of Kilcoy Art Society Inc (KASI) members entered artworks into this year’s Art Section, and did extremely well, with Ann Caporn taking out overall Champion and 1st prize in the Open Oil or Acrylic with her portrait painting of her mother, and Noela Lowien taking out Reserve Champion and 1st prize in Open Modern or Abstract and 1st prize in Open Local Scene with her wonderful artworks.

Other member artists awarded 1st prizes in the Open section were as follows:

  • Dianne Taylor – Watercolour;
  • Dawn Evans – Drawing;
  • Jan Russell – Pastel Medium and Still Life;
  • Ruth Hughes – Pen and Wash; and
  • Michelle Ledwith – Amateur Painting and Amateur Drawing.

Congratulations to everyone who won 2nd and 3rd prizes, Highly Commended and encouragement awards in their relevant classes, including KASI members Cameron Hooper and Marg Pearson and local artists Kay Walker and Kevin Kruger.

And last but not least, congratulations to all artistic entrants, particularly our talented high school students Irish Fadriquela who took out Champion student and 1st prize in the Senior High School class and Tommie Jensen who took out Reserve Champion and 1st prize in the Junior High School class.
