AOM July: Michelle Ledwith

Welcome to our July AOM – Michelle Ledwith. Michelle likes to dabble in many mediums: screen printing, pencil, charcoal, pastel, acrylic, watercolour, and mixed media. She enjoys experimenting with new ways to be creative and incorporating found items into her art.

Michelle prefers to paint ‘en plein air’ as most of her subjects are inspired by the natural world where the process of art is more enjoyable whilst being surrounded by nature. Now she is including messages about human destruction and pollution in her works. A series of 4 paintings titled “What have we done to our oceans?” depicts the damage that plastics and discarded fishing nets and lines are doing to our marine environment. These are framed in reused kitchen cabinet doors.

Other works in Michelle’s July exhibition have been painted in acrylic, pastel, mixed media and watercolour. They depict scenes from nature which focus on trees, fungi and animals.

Please support Michelle’s creative works by visiting the Courthouse Art Gallery, Yowie Park, Kilcoy during July.
