AOM August: Margaret Pearson
Artist of the month for August is Margaret Pearson.
Margaret is an emerging artist who likes to play and create every day! Her practice at present includes Friday group sessions with friend Tania Geyer at the Fire Station Gallery, Redcliffe where they enjoy their encouragement to one another. Margaret loves to make meaning using different media and techniques. Often her work has a spiritual element, or includes some fun or a social justice message. Often there is a sense of place.
In reflecting on her work to date, she was surprised to note there is already a small body of work which revolves around people significant to her…so has decided to put some of those works together for her August AOM exhibition, aptly entitled “Portrait Retrospective”.
In September this year, Margaret leaves for a Moroccan art tour organised and hosted by respected printmaker/painter/designer, Sonja Georgeson. Margaret is looking forward to what that place evokes in her and the work that results.
Margaret has been an active member of the Kilcoy Art Society Inc (KASI) for several years now and the encouragement of her fellow KASI members is very important to her. She is particularly thankful for being able to participate in “Kilcoy Sketchers”, a group of KASI members who get together once a month to paint and draw together. They provide valuable sharing.
You’re invited to visit the Kilcoy Courthouse Art Gallery during August to view Margaret’s special exhibition. Opening hours are 9am to 1pm, Thursday to Monday.
