Art & Music in the Park this Saturday

We’re getting excited about the event Art & Music in the Park which has been organised as a way for KASI to give back to the community by inviting people to celebrate with them the opening of THE LAKESIDE DECK.

The event will be held from 2pm ’til 5pm on Saturday 15th September, in the vicinity of the Courthouse Art Gallery, Yowie Park and everyone is welcome to join in the fun.

The Gallery and new deck will be open all afternoon for people to visit. We have our new quarterly art exhibition, including a beautiful display by September’s Artist of the Month (AOM), Lindsay Conroy on the Gallery’s feature wall.

Also, to coincide with the Art & Music in the Park event, KASI is very pleased to have an additional exhibition of artworks completed by Kilcoy State High School Years 11 & 12 students on display at the Gallery from Thursday 13th to Monday 17th September. The student art will be judged on 12th September by a special panel and winners will be highlighted alongside their respective artwork. Thank you to Sally Wright and Katelyn McGrath of the Kilcoy State High School for supporting KASI with this initiative.

Art & Music in the Park will have live music on the deck by the fabulous local Cuban band, Canta La Tumba.

There will be various art activities people can participate in or simply watch and learn throughout the afternoon, including (for adults) watercolour, drawing, and ‘paint a mini masterpiece’. For the kids, we have a colouring in competition with prizes! Look out for posters to tell you what is on and what time.

The Lions Club will be busy at the BBQ, providing a FREE sausage sizzle and will be selling popcorn to help raise funds towards the Kilcoy Christmas Carnival. Yowie Coffee, local wineries and KASI will be selling drinks to quench your thirst after all that dancing!

Please bring your own picnic rug or chairs. You can also bring your own food and drinks if preferred.

This event has been made possible through the provision of a Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) to KASI. The Regional Arts Development Fund is a Queensland Government, through Arts Queensland and Somerset Regional Council, partnership to support local arts and culture.
