AOM September: Lindsay Conroy

There are only a few days left to see the work of Artist of the Month for September – Lindsay Conroy.

Lindsay has used several styles to create her current collection of artworks on display on the feature wall and judge’s bench at the Gallery. She says “she takes a serendipity approach to art and life and the constant challenges that come with it”.

The first style is an organic extraction of colours obtained from native plants on her farm in the Brisbane Valley and some surrounding regions. She enjoys exploring the earth’s hidden harvest , which makes each piece so individual. Lindsay is currently working with Silk, Wool and paper with this style of art.

The second style is an ancient Greek method (enkaustiko) Encaustics – meaning to burn. This method was once used to seal ships. Encaustics is a mixture of Beeswax and Damar Resin and Lindsay likes the spectrum of colours which evolve with speed and heat as the torch flows over the board. She particular loves to burn shellac into the encaustics. This style has it challenges but she says “it is so much fun”.

Thirdly – a beautiful watercolour encapsulating her farm theme!

Come and see for yourself Lindsay’s stunning and unique collection of artworks at the Kilcoy Courthouse Art Gallery, Yowie Park until the end of September. Don’t forget we also have a new quarterly exhibition which is receiving wonderful feedback from the public!
