AOM February: Di Taylor
Thank you to member artist Kris Wheeler for being our first Artist of the Month (AOM) for 2019 and welcome to watercolourist, Di Taylor as the AOM for February.
Di has been learning watercolour painting since her retirement in 2009. Di initially attended classes at the Brisbane Institute of Art. She subsequently completed an Introduction to Watercolour course with Kevin Smith from the Watercolour Society of Queensland.
Di has attended workshops provided by some of Australia’s leading watercolourists including Herman Pekel, Ross Paterson, Ev Hales, Ruby Eaves, Raelean Hall, Maria Field and Helen Beaver.
Whilst living in Brisbane Di was an active member of the Watercolour Society of Queensland and the Society’s Western Suburbs Painting Group. Di was President of the Society for three years and was their Exhibition Convenor for five years. Di has been a member of the Kilcoy Art Society Inc (KASI) for several years and is a regular exhibitor at the Kilcoy Courthouse Art Gallery. Di is also currently President of KASI!
In 2010 Di won Second Prize at the Brookfield Show and First and Second Prizes at the Samford Show. In 2015 Di won two Firsts and one Second at the Kilcoy Show and Highly Commended at the Brookfield Show. In 2016 Di won First Prize in the watercolour category and Reserve Champion at the Kilcoy Show. Di also received a Special Mention at the Watercolour Society’s Annual Exhibition in 2016.
Di enjoys painting a range of subjects including landscapes and still life. During the year Di conducts Watercolour workshops for beginners at the Courthouse Art Gallery. Keep watch on our workshop page and Facebook page for details.
