AOM March: Ann Caporn
Welcome to our March AOM – Ann Caporn. Queensland born Ann was aware of her love of painting from a very early age however, being raised in a small community there were limited opportunities for studying art. Now semi-retired and living on the Sunshine Coast, Ann has the time to follow her passion. Ann has travelled extensively overseas and throughout Australia, so she enjoys creating her artwork subjects based from her own experiences. Ann says “A painting has to tell a story” and to that end, Ann strives to paint light and life by capturing the playful interaction of people and animals in the environment. If a painting triggers a memory of place or subject, Ann can only hope the viewer can share whatever it was that inspired her to paint it.
Progressively drawn to less detail and more impressionism in her work, Ann is mainly working in acrylic for the fast-drying time. However, she turns to oil for her special love…portraiture.
Ann’s work is displayed on the feature wall at the Courthouse Art Gallery, Kilcoy throughout the month of March. Please come and see whether her paintings trigger a memory of place or subject for you too.
