Brian Wallace
Brian grew up in the Caboolture district and studied art at school, then art history as part of Arts Degree at the University of Queensland in the early 1970’s while training as a teacher. He taught English and History in Charleville, then in Brisbane before becoming Subject Master, English in the 1980’s. He continued to work in this area as Head of English in several Brisbane schools until semi-retirement in 2009. While continuing to teach English part-time, this allowed time to take up painting again.
Brian developed his interest in watercolour with classes at the Brisbane Institute of Art and became a member of the Watercolour Society of Queensland. He has taken regular classes with WSQ members Kevin Smith and Maria Field as well as participating in workshops run by the Watercolour Society of Queensland. His main subject interest is landscape, both Australian and from travels overseas.
Brian now lives mostly in Kilcoy and is a member of the Kilcoy Art Society which exhibits at the Courthouse Gallery in Kilcoy.
