Exhibition: Country Life

Thurs 31 January to Thurs 28 February 2019

Esk’s Glen Rock Art Gallery’s February 2019 “Artist of the Month” is Noela Lowien with a special interest in Kilcoy History. The Theme “Country Life” will reflect the local districts, as we know it – as part of country Australia.

“I have a great admiration for the Australian bush and the beauty of our natural landscapes…. there is always a desire to capture the past and present day in paintings of street and landscape scenes. I wish I had a video of early Kilcoy, but without it I endeavour to capture the atmosphere of those days in artwork….”
“The small, picturesque rural town of Kilcoy, Queensland, which is rich in culture and history, is where I have lived since growing up on the nearby family farm. A descendant of five local pioneering families, I am very involved in our local Historical Society, being the research and publishing officer with 16 local books successfully published to date, from 1992 to 2014, along with the successful collation and design of the 2015-16 Kilcoy History Trail business signage project. This brings about my aspiration to paint local and historical scenes, combining my nostalgia-laced interests of history and art. I like to encourage the locals to participate in community art events and the Art Section of the local show, which takes place in April. An active member of Kilcoy Art Society Inc and previously Kilcoy Art Group Inc and painting in all mediums, I have participated with success in many exhibitions and at district shows and my work can be viewed at local venues. Subject matter, media and techniques vary from time to time-: Landscapes, Buildings, Still Life, Portraits, Animals, and Modern in Oil, Pencil, Watercolour, Pen & Wash, Pastels, Acrylics, Calligraphy, Floral Art.”
