Vicky Lilwall

As a young girl I loved to draw and spent many happy hours with colour pencils and paper.
In the late 1980’s I was introduced to the world of ceramics when my mother, bless her heart, felt I needed creativity back in my life and paid for a 10-week course in ceramics and told me I had to attend. This certainly made my creativity resurface, so thank you Mum!
I’ve always had the desire to learn to paint so after the ceramics, I took a few lessons in oil painting, dabbled with watercolours for a time, before falling into folk art & decorative painting. I spent many years throughout the late 1990’s working in this field. I entered my pieces into the local shows where I was fortunate enough to collect a few 1st prizes and ribbons.
My love for art unfortunately had to be placed on hold due to life changes, with my focus shifting to full time work and making financial ends meet. However, now later in life, never losing that passion to be creative or just wanting to paint, I can now focus on what I enjoy and love – Art.
I have discovered the beautiful world of Soft Pastels. For the most part I am self-taught in this media, but I look forward to joining future workshops, learning, and discovering further the world of Soft Pastels.
I feel so lucky to live in this beautiful country and enjoy getting out on the road to explore and discover what I can discover. There are so many different colours and moods to our landscapes, and I draw a lot of joy and inspiration from what I see in our own beautiful backyard.
Art – what does this mean to me:
A place to escape to, a place where you can lose time, a place of discovery, a place where your soul and creativity meet & speak.

I have rediscovered my happy place!
